The Last Link

He wore a void-colored robe
From behind this robe
Two inanimate, ruby eyes gazed upon my life
As the osprey gazes deep into the seven seas
Seeing the perch soon to be its prey
Then, he began to devour me
As the osprey swallows the perch
Yet slower
Slow as a feather drifts
On a listless breeze.
I saw the world
Turn from jet black to blood red
As the scythe swung low
Like a chariot to freedom.
I saw the world
Turn from jet black to blood red
Like the gears of a clock turn, slowly
Finally, my last heart beat sounded
And I knew the shadow of his cloak
As a falling rock knows the darkness of a chasm.
I was consumed in a dark flame.
